NEST Cell Culture Inserts with membrane PC (polycarbonate) are advanced cell culture systems designed to create models of cell permeation, transmembrane transport, migration, invasion and polarization vitroThe PC membrane is particularly valued in applications requiring high-quality fluorescence readings – it stands out low autofluorescence and homogeneous pore structure, which translates into stable flow and repeatable results. Inserts are available in 6-well, 12-well, and 24-well formats and are supplied with a matching multi-well cell culture plate, which ensures proper insert positioning and work comfort. The "nested inserts" design allows for precise insert placement, uniform access to the medium in the upper and lower chambers, and full compatibility with serological pipettes and automation.
PC membrane – 8,0 μm pores and applications in cell migration and invasion
In this configuration, inserts with a membrane PC are only available in the pore variant 8,0 μm, making them an ideal tool for migration and invasion assays. 8,0 μm pores are widely used in chemotaxis and transmigration studies (e.g., leukocytes), endothelial cell and fibroblast migration analyses, and tumor invasion models. The uniform pore structure in the PC membrane ensures reproducible conditions for cell passage through the membrane, and low autofluorescence facilitates observations and analyses using fluorescent markers. For maximum reproducibility of results, it is recommended to work with solutions and media prepared using sterile PES filters 0,22 μm.
Sterility, quality and standards – PC inserts ready to work in demanding laboratories
NEST inserts with membrane PC are manufactured from virgin polystyrene of the highest class USP VI, ensuring biological safety and stability in breeding. Surface variant TC-Treated supports the adhesion and growth of most adherent cells, facilitating uniform experimental conditions. Each insert is individually packaged in Tyvek® blisters and sterilized using the E-Beam (SAL 10⁻⁶), which guarantees a high level of microbiological purity. The products are free of DNases, RNases, endotoxins, and human DNA and meet the requirements IVDR 2017/746To minimize the risk of contamination and maintain the reproducibility of migration/invasion tests, it is recommended to use sterile pipette tips with filter at every stage of work.
